Franz Xaver Hafner

Franz Xaver Hafner (born April 15, 1912 in Ebenthan, Hunderdorf municipality ; † May 14, 1993 in Bogen ) was a banker and local politician from Lower Bavaria ( CSU ).

Life

From 1945 to 1948 he was head of department at the Bogen district office. He then worked as the district administrator of the Bogen district from 1948 to 1972 and of the Straubing-Bogen district, newly created as part of the Bavarian regional reform, from 1972 to 1978.

Hafner was particularly active in local politics, for example in the Local Political Association of the CDU and CSU in Germany (KPV). He was chairman of KPV Bayern, member of the main committee of KPV Germany and the district association of Bavaria. He was also a member of the Defense Policy Working Group of the CSU and a board member of the Lower Bavaria-Upper Palatinate District Association of the Bavarian Red Cross.

He was married to Maria Hafner (* July 20, 1918 in Passau ; † February 6, 2011 in Bogen). The marriage had two children.

Awards

Franz Xaver Hafner was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit on December 13, 1965 for his services . He has been an honorary citizen of the city ​​of Bogen since December 17, 1980 . In 1981 he was awarded the Josef Schlicht Medal, which honors "particularly outstanding services to homeland, culture and customs" and is named after the folklorist and local researcher Josef Schlicht . The Danube Bridge at the foot of the Bogenberg was christened Xaver-Hafner-Brücke in his honor .
