Xavier Garcia

Xavier Garcia (* 1959) is a French composer and improvisation musician .

Life

Garcia has been a member of the ARFI ( Association à la Recherche d'un Folklore Imaginaire ) since 1986 : he uses sampling and electronics in their groups Ces Messieurs , L'Effet vapeu , 32 Janvier , in the Duo Recio Garcia, in La Marmite Infernale and in Villerd / Ayler quartet , but also appears as a soloist. He is also a composer, as he is interested in creating music in the studio as well as playing live on stage. He has created almost thirty electronic compositions for the Groupe De Recherches Musicales (GRM) of the Institut national de l'audiovisuel (INA) in Paris, at GMVL (Lyon), but also at home on his computer.

Franck Tortiller has invited Garcia to perform with the Orchester National de Jazz , where he brings, for example, samples from Led Zeppelin into the Big Band's game (which was awarded a Django d'Or (France) as best live music). He has also collaborated and recorded with Les Percussions de Strasbourg , Chris Cutler , Brian Eno , Heiner Goebbels , Gianni Gebbia , Hasse Poulsen, Carlo Rizzo, Yves Robert , Nils Wogram and Norbert Stein . He has also written incidental music and worked with video artists.
