Xavier Gottofrey

Xavier Gottofrey (born September 9, 1802 in Echallens , † December 15, 1868 in Lausanne , resident in Echallens) was a Swiss politician .

biography

After studying in Freiburg im Breisgau , Gottofrey was a lawyer at the Court of Appeal in Lausanne from 1832 to 1840 and a judge at the Court of Appeal and Cantonal Court from 1840 to 1847. From 1843 to 1846 and from 1855 to 1856 he was Associate Professor of Civil Law at the Lausanne Academy .

As a Grand Councilor in the canton of Vaud , he had a seat in the cantonal parliament from 1854 to 1866 and was a member of the Council of States from January to May 1862 .

In federal politics, Gottofrey was more of a middle-class politician.

In 1860 he was a co-founder of the Lausanne Société de construction, which wanted to create cheap living space. However, the desired expectations did not result from the project.
