Xaviera Hollander (* 15. June 1943 in Surabaya , Indonesia , as Vera de Vries ) is a Dutch writer and actress and S.Domingos call girl .

Life

Childhood, education, secretary

Born in Surabaya , Hollander spent the first years of her life in a Japanese internment camp in Indonesia . After the end of the Second World War , her parents moved back to the Netherlands with her in 1946. After successfully completing a secretary course, Hollander worked for a few years as a secretary in South Africa , and later for the Dutch consul and the Belgian ambassador in the USA .

Call girl and madame in the USA

To supplement her salary, Hollander also worked in the USA as a call girl for an agency in New York. After she had bought a client list from a prostitute who was withdrawing from the business , Hollander gave up her job and only worked as a call girl. In addition, she also opened a brothel on the East Side of New York , which she operated as a Madame (brothel boss) at different locations . She has been called "New York's Most Famous Call Girl".

In 1972 Hollander's biography appeared under the title The Happy Hooker (Eng. "The happy hooker" ), which she had written with co-authors Robin Moore and Yvonne Dunleavy. The book became a world bestseller , appeared in several languages ​​and sold 20 million copies. In 1975 her biography of Nicholas Sgarro was filmed with Lynn Redgrave in the lead role. Since 1975 Hollander wrote a column called Call Me Madam for the men's magazine Penthouse , in which she gave advice and recommendations on sexual problems.

Since the early 1970s, Hollander also appeared as an actress in several films; Among others, in 1974 in The Life and Times of the Happy Hooker by Larry Spangler and in 1975 in the comedy My Pleasure Is My Business (German version: The hottest woman in the world ). She took on a supporting role again in Eddy Terstall's 1992 Dutch film Transit . Hollander has written a number of books and screenplays and produced plays in Amsterdam since the 1970s. Her latest book Child No More is about the loss of her mother, who died in 2000.

Hollander's books have appeared in large numbers and in several languages. Entertains you with Xaviera's Happy House , a bed-and-breakfast -share accommodation in Amsterdam. In January 2007 she married Philip de Haan.
