Xiaoqun Clever

Xiaoqun Clever (born June 11, 1970 in the People's Republic of China ) is a German company director who has been Chief Technology and Data Officer and a member of the management team of the international media company Ringier since January 2016 .

Career

Xiaoqun Clever was born in China in 1970 . Because of the political situation in China at the time, Clever moved to Germany in 1991 after completing three years of studying computer science and technology at Tsinghua University in Beijing . She completed her studies in computer science and international marketing at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in 1997. Between 2003 and 2005, Clever completed a General Management MBA at the University of West Florida (UWF). This was later followed by training as a systemic coach at the Wiesbaden Management Forum, the Global Leadership Program at INSEAD in France and further training as a Solution Focused Business Professional at the University of Wisconsin.

Since 1997 Xiaoqun Clever has held various positions at the German software company SAP . Among other things, she was Chief Operating Officer (COO) in the Chief Technology Office and Senior VP for Design & New Applications. Clever was Corporate Officer and Executive Vice President at SAP and President of SAP Labs China until the end of 2013 , where she took the lead in using the latest technologies to manage and promote the transformation of business processes. Under the leadership of Clever, her company has developed numerous groundbreaking applications for the SAP product portfolio. At the German media company ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG , Clever, as Chief Technology Officer, was entrusted with driving the digital transformation of the group. In addition, she has been a member of the supervisory board of Allianz Versicherung AG Austria since January 2015 and of Maxingvest, the holding company of tchibo and Beiersdorf AG, since January 2016 . Clever has been Chief Technology and Data Officer since January 2016 and is a member of the Ringier AG management team. In this role, Clever is responsible for the development and establishment of technology and data stocks at group level, as a growth engine for the digital transformation in all units.

Xiaoqun Clever is committed to promoting women in the field of technology. She is particularly keen to encourage women to take up leadership positions and to be more courageous. She also writes in the chapter The future will be very, very different: From the shine of the digital dawn in the book The LEAN BACK Perspective: Leadership Today - 42 Inspirational Paths for Successful Women:For me it is natural to coach and mentoring women in the technology environment support. “Furthermore, Clever sees an opportunity for women in today's change in the business world towards network culture with flat hierarchies, because they“ predominantly approach tasks in a matter-of-fact way and avoid typically male battles over territories. Awards

In March 2018, the Xiaoqun Clever team was recognized at the Global BIGGIES Awards. Her project “Using advanced Artificial Intelligence to generate reader revenue and boost user engagement” received the “Best of Show” award for the “Best in Class” technology used, which is based on artificial intelligence. At the same time, the Ringier project received the “Award of Excellence” in the “Excellence in use of Artificial Intelligence” category and first place in the “Excellence in natural language processing” category. In addition, Clever and her team received the following awards:

  • Winner of the “Global Media Award” from the International News Media Association (INMA) for developing a platform to increase revenue and engagement through AI and big data in 2018
  • Ringier AG was also nominated for the “Diamond Star” of the Handelsblatt in Germany in 2018
  • In 2017 Clever was named one of the “digital shapers” in Switzerland
  • In 2013 she was named the top 10 leaders in China

Private life

Clever lives in Switzerland and Germany and has two sons.
