Xinzo de Limia is a city in northwestern Spain . It is located in the province of Ourense , within the Autonomous Region (Comunidad Autónoma) Galicia near the border of Portugal on the Limia river .

history

There is a legend about Xinzo. Several classical authors of antiquity mention that crossing the Límia River was punished with total loss of memory. 138 BC The Roman general Decimus Junius Brutus Callaicus put an end to this legend by reciting the names of all his legionnaires when he had crossed the river .

Economy and Infrastructure

Xinzo is a service city and an important shopping center on the A-52 Vigo - Madrid motorway . There are several small industries such as a glass factory as well as pig fattening and dairy farms. Xinzo is now one of the largest Spanish locations for potato chip production.
