Cândido Lorenzo González

Cândido Lorenzo González OdeM (born September 23, 1925 in Xinzo de Limia , Ourense Province ; † December 17, 2019 in Sâo Raimundo Nonato ) was a Spanish - Brazilian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of São Raimundo Nonato .

Life

Cândido Lorenzo González joined the religious order of Mercedarians and was ordained a priest on June 6, 1954 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on December 5, 1969 titular bishop of Scardona and prelate of São Raimundo Nonato. The Archbishop of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro , Cardinal Jaime de Barros Câmara , donated him episcopal ordination on March 19 of the next year ; Co-consecrators were Mário Teixeira Gurgel SDS , auxiliary bishop in São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro, and José Vázquez Díaz OdeM, prelate of Bom Jesus do Piauí . On May 26, 1978 he renounced his titular bishopric as part of the new allocation guidelines of the Roman Curia .

With the elevation of the territorial prelature to the diocese of São Raimundo Nonato on October 3, 1981, he was appointed its first diocesan bishop . On July 17, 2002, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
