Xu Dazhe

Xu Dazhe (Chinese: 许达哲; born September 1956 in Liuyang ) is a Chinese aerospace engineer and politician. He is currently the governor of Hunan Province . Previously, he was the director of the China National Space Administration and the head of the National Science, Technology and Industry Agency in National Defense .

Life

Xu Dazhe was born in Liuyang, Hunan Province, and received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Harbin Polytechnic University . He joined the Communist Party in 1982 . Xu began his career in December 1984 as a technical designer at the Research Institute for Cosmodrome Technology at the First Academy of the Ministry of Space Industry and was then promoted to lead individual projects. Xu also has experience leading a missile construction team. The ministry was eventually spun off as a state-owned company and run as a corporation. On June 23, 2007, by resolution of the State Council of the People's Republic of China , Xu Dazhe was appointed to succeed Yin Xingliang (殷兴良, 1953-2010) as General Director of the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation . In April 2013, Xu then moved to China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation as CEO .

On December 25, 2013, he was appointed head of the National Defense Science, Technology and Industry Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology , and the director of the National Space Agency of China with the rank of undersecretary. In September 2016 he was appointed acting governor of his home province of Hunan. As of 1949, he was the 18th person to serve as the governor of Hunan. Xu followed in the footsteps of prominent colleagues like Ma Xingrui and Chen Qiufa to make the transition from aerospace to politics.

Xu Dazhe was a member of the Central Disciplinary Commission of the Communist Party of China from October 14, 2007 to November 8, 2012 , in fact the highest anti-corruption agency in China. He then moved to the party's central committee , where he is still represented today (as of April 2020).
