Yacøpsæ is a Hamburg based hardcore band that was founded in 1990.

history

Yacøpsæ was founded in 1990 in the context of the Hamburg punk / squatter scene. The band name goes back to the last name ("Jakobs") of the singer of the local band The DDL's. For the first five years, Yacøpsæ existed as a duo because there was no bass player. In April 1991 a first demo cassette was recorded. In February 1992 the drummer Pattex left the band due to musical differences and was replaced shortly after by Emu, who was playing in the Hamburg hardcore band Derider at the time. In January 1996, Frank Venet (ex-Sargnagel) joined a bassist and completed the line-up. The line-up remained constant until February 2016, when the band and bass player Venet split up. The Yacøpsæ performed in 2001, 2005, 2007 and 2012 on the Obscene Extreme . In 2003, Yacøpsæ was one of the very few bands in the power violence genre to perform in Istanbul . In 2006 and 2016 the band performed at the Maryland Deathfest , in 2006 as the first band from German-speaking countries. In 2016 the band released the album Guest Room , on which the vocal parts of the 30 pieces were taken over by musicians who were friends, including the bands Holy Moses , Svffer , EA80 , Cripple Bastards and Karl Nagel . In November 2018, drummer Ebeling left the band. The new drummer Thore was hired for the vacant post the following month.

style

Ollie Fröhlich from Ox-Fanzine described the music on Tanz, Grozny, Tanz… as "the fastest, most honest, angry and best grind record of the year". The Trust classifies the band's music as “the hottest fast-power-violence-blah-punk rock”, which is worth “moving to the band's hometown”. Michael Siewert from Ox-Fanzine assigned the music to hardcore in his review of the split release with Sanitys Dawn and emphasized that the lyrics are unusually all in German. In a review by Tanz, Grozny, tanz ... Sputnik Music characterized the band's music as "minute swirls of anger and controlled aggression" based on "great riffs and great drumming" that "please any fan of power violence and / or grindcore “Would. The Fanzine Moloko Plus found that against Yacøpsæ, “ Slayer sound like (a) Valium tablet”. Bloodchamber.de described the album as a fast and aggressive mixture of hard - and grindcore, in which "apparently chaos and utter chaos" prevail. However, everything has its fixed place and order is only gradually revealed. The Plastic-Bomb magazine referred to the band's music as "furious grindcore" and the 2016er album guest rooms as "violent album". The band itself is not subordinate to the grindcore to which they "(...) provocative frantically" and in the case of particularly when considered its subgenres as Porngrind perceived as sexist, but sees between the hardcore subgenre Powerviolence and FastCore . Typical of Yacøpsæ songs are blastbeats , stop'n'go breaks, keifgesang and socially critical texts in German.
