Yako is a city (commune urbaine) and a department encompassing the same area in the West African state of Burkina Faso , about 110 kilometers northwest of the capital Ouagadougou , in the north region and capital of the Passoré province . 79,408 inhabitants live in the area with 40 villages and the main town, which is divided into seven sectors (2006 census).
