Yang Xu ( Chinese  杨旭 , Pinyin Yáng Xù ) (born February 12, 1987 in Dalian ) is a Chinese football player who has played for Shandong Luneng Taishan since 2013 .

Career

Yang Xu played in the youth of Harbin Yiteng FC and Liaoning Hongyun before joining the Liaoning professional team in 2005. On April 16, he made his professional debut in the 1-0 loss to Shanghai Shenhua . Despite the defeat, Xu got another chance due to his convincing performance in the next game against Wuhan Optics Valley FC , but this game was also lost with 0-1. In the following games, his team got better and better into the season and Yang Xu scored his first goal of the season on May 15 in a 3-1 win over Shenzhen Ruby . At the end of the 2005 season, he was able to show three goals in eleven games and ended the season with Liaoning in tenth place in the table.

In the following season, a positive development was visible at Xu and he was able to increase his playing times to a total of 20 games, but he was mainly used as a substitute. After going goalless in 2007, he tried to continue to establish himself in the team in the 2008 season, but he only scored three goals and in the end Liaoning relegated to China League One . Despite the relegation, he remained loyal to his club and got the long-awaited place in the striker. There he also knew how to convince, Yang Xu scored a total of 15 goals in 22 games, taking second place in the top scorer list and succeeding in direct promotion with Liaoning.

In the following seasons he continued to be a member of the regular formation and scored a total of 26 league goals from 2009 to 2012. On February 27, 2013, he left Liaoning Hongyun and signed with Shandong Luneng Taishan . In the 2014 season he was temporarily loaned to Changchun Yatai .

National team

After an impressive start to the season in 2009, Yang Xu was appointed to the Chinese national team, where he first played in a number of friendly matches. On January 17, 2010 he completed his competitive debut as part of the qualification for the 2011 Asian Football Championship against Vietnam and scored the 1-0 lead. He scored twice in the friendly against Honduras on March 29, 2011 , and just under four months later he scored a hat trick in the qualifier for the 2014 World Cup against Laos .
