history
The Syrian Orthodox Mor Gabriel Monastery , one of the oldest Christian monasteries in the world, is located 3 km northeast of the village. The monastery is also known as the Monastery of Qartmin . Qartmin or Kartmin is the Arabic name for the village of Yayvantepe.
