Yolandi Stander gained her first international experience at the 2014 African Youth Games in Gaborone , where she won the gold medal in discus throwing with a width of 44.74 m. In the shot put she took part in the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing , where she finished fourth with 14.45 m in the B final. The following year she won the African Youth Championships in Réduit with 14.95 m in the shot put and won the bronze medal with the discus with 40.94 m. So she qualified for the Youth World Championships in Cali , where she was eliminated with 14.82 m in the shot put qualification and reached seventh place with the discus with 47.85 m. In 2017 she won the Junior African Championships in Tlemcen with a width of 49.13 m and had to be content with silver in the shot put with 12.72 m. In 2018 she was sixth at the African Championships in Asaba with 48.35 m. The following year she finished tenth with the discus at the Summer Universiade in Naples with 52.40 m, before she won the silver medal behind the Nigerian Chioma Onyekwere at the African Games in Rabat with 57.75 m .
