Yoon "Taeja" Young-suh (born January 1, 1995 ) is a former professional South Korean e-athlete in the computer game StarCraft II . Taeja was one of the most successful Terrans of the international Starcraft 2 scene from around mid-2012 until his retirement in 2016.

Career

Although Yoon Young-suh was able to qualify for the first GSL event, he had a very bumpy start to his Starcraft 2 career. Although Taeja was able to achieve two "all-kills" (defeating four players in a row) in the GSTL (team league) for his former team SlayerS in 2011 , his performances in individual tournaments were initially not outstanding.

At the beginning of 2012, Yoon Young-suh was able to advance into the round of 16 of the GSL (Code S Season 2) for the first time. His first big win was supposed to take place outside of Korea at the 2012 MLG Summer Arena against Alicia in the final. Shortly afterwards a first place against MC at the "ASUS ROG Summer 2012" followed. Shortly thereafter, a shared third place at the 2012 MLG Summer Championships and a first place at the "2012 DreamHack Open: Valencia" followed.

In 2013 he won several other tournaments, including both HomeStory Cups of the Year and the DreamHack Bucharest and DreamHack Winter tournaments. In 2014 he won the HomeStory Cup IX again (4-0 in the final against Jang Min-chul ), the third win in a row at this tournament. At the DreamHack Open Summer 2014 he won and with 17: 0 Maps he managed a perfect tournament run. Shortly afterwards, he also won the IEM tournament in Shenzhen.

At the WCS Finals at Blizzcon 2014 he reached the semifinals, where he lost 2: 3 to the zerg player Lee "Life" Seung-hyun .

On June 2, 2016, Taeja announced that he was ending his career as a player. His last tournament was the GSL 2016 Season 1, where he made it to the quarter-finals.
