Giorgos Arvanitis
Giorgos Arvanitis , also Yórgos Arvanítis ( Greek Γιώργος Αρβανίτης , born February 22, 1941 in Dilofo , Fthiotida , Greece ) is a Greek cameraman .
Career
Giorgos Arvanitis trained as an electrician and began working as a lighting technician and camera assistant for Greek film in the early 1960s. He made his film debut as chief cameraman in the musical comedy Peripeteies me tous Forminx, which was released in 1965 and directed by Kostas Lyhnaras and Theodoros Angelopoulos . Since then, he has also been responsible for all of Angelopoulos' feature films as a cameraman. He also maintained a long-term collaboration with Pantelis Voulgaris and Jean-Jacques Andrien . In recent years he has also made several films for French director Catherine Breillat , including My Sister , Anatomie de l'enfer and The Last Mätresse . His most important international award was a 1989 nomination for the European Film Award for the best cameraman in Angelopoulos Landscape in Fog .
