Yua austro-orientalis is a species from the grapevine family(Vitaceae).

description

Small twigs are brownish or gray-brownish, hairless, round in cross-section and have many lenticels . The tendrils are divided into a fork shape. The leaves are slightly leathery and hand-shaped, pinnate in five parts. The petiole is 3 to 6 inches long. The stems of the leaflets are 0.2 to 1.2 inches long and hairless. The middle leaflet stalk is longer than the others. The leaflets are 5 to 9 × 2 to 4 centimeters in size, obovate-lanceolate or obovate-elliptical, hairless and mostly blue-green on the underside. The leaf veins of dried leaves are clearly raised. There are 6 to 9 pairs of lateral leaf veins. The leaf base is wedge-shaped. The leaf margin is 2- to 5-toothed on each side, whereby the teeth are rarely inconspicuous. The tip of the leaf is pointed, slightly pointed or blunt. The inflorescence axis is 1.5 to 2 inches long. The flower stalks are 3 to 6 millimeters in size. The flower buds are 2 to 3.5 millimeters in size and elliptical. The 5 petals are about 3 millimeters long. The stamens are 3 to 3.8 millimeters in size. The anthers are elliptical, about 2 millimeters in size and yellow. The stamp is 2 to 2.5 millimeters long. The stylus are narrowed. The berries are 1.5 to 2.5 millimeters in diameter and taste sweet and sour. The seeds are 6 to 8 × approximately 5 millimeters in size and slightly flattened.

The species blooms from May to June and fruit from October to December.

Occurrence

The type is in China in Fujian , Guangdong , Guangxi and Jiangxi endemic . It grows in forests and bushes in valleys at altitudes of 100 to 900 meters.

Systematics

The species was first described in 1948 by Franklin Post Metcalf as Parthenocissus austro-orientalis . In 1990, Chao Luang Li added her to the genus Yua as Yua austro-orientalis .
