Yucca cernua is a species of palm lily ( Yucca ) in the asparagus family (Asparagaceae).

description

The solitary species has no trunk. The variable, soft, bluish, 30 to 80 cm long leaves are serrated on the leaf edges. The upright or to the side inclined, branched inflorescence with a growth height of 1.5 to 4 meters is characteristic. Furthermore, the fruits stand upright when ripe.

Yucca cernua is closely related to Yucca pallida . However, the inflorescence only reaches a height of 1 to 2.5 meters. If the ground is dry, light frosts can be endured for a short time.

distribution

Yucca cernua is common in eastern Texas in Jasper County and Newton Counties.

Systematics

The first description by Eric Keith , Texas, was published in 2003. The species Yucca cernua is placed within the genus Yucca in the section Chaenocarpa and therein in the series Rupicolae .
