Amphoe Chanuman ( Thai : อำเภอ ชานุมาน ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the province of Amnat Charoen . The province of Amnat Charoen is located in the eastern part of the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .
geography
Neighboring Amphoe are counted from the southeast: Amphoe Khemarat in the province of Ubon Ratchathani , the Amphoe Pathum Ratchawongsa and Senangkhanikhom in Amnat Charoen, Amphoe Loeng Nok Tha in the province of Yasothon and Amphoe Don Tan in the province of Mukdahan . To the east, on the opposite bank of the Mekong , lies the Laotian province of Salavan .
The main source of water is the Mekong.
history
Mueang Chanuman Monthon was established in 1879 as part of the Monthon Ubon Ratchathani. Later the city had to go through an economic crisis and parts of the population migrated to other regions. Then Chanuman was downgraded by Prince Sapphasitthiprasong to a King Amphoe and subordinated to the Amphoe Khemarat . In 1958 Chanuman was returned to Amphoe status. Chanuman was one of the districts that formed the new Amnat Charoen Province on January 12, 1993.

Amphoe Chanuman is divided into five tambon ("subdistricts" or "municipalities"), which are further subdivided into 62 muban ("villages").

Local administration
There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:
- Khok Kong (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล โคก ก่ง ) includes the entire tambon Khok Kong.
- Chanuman (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ชานุมาน ) comprises parts of the tambon Chanuman.
There are also four " Tambon Administrative Organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO):
