Amphoe Khemarat ( Thai : อำเภอ เขมราฐ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the north of Ubon Ratchathani Province . The province of Ubon Ratchathani is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

geography

Khemarat District borders the following counties (from southeast clockwise) to the Amphoe Na Tan , Pho Sai , Kut Khaopun Ubon Ratchathani province, and to the Amphoe Pathum Ratchawongsa and Chanuman the province Amnat Charoen . In the northeast on the other bank of the Mekong lies the Laotian province of Salavan .

The main water resource in the district is the Mekong .

history

Mueang Khemarat is an ancient city. In the Rattanakosin era it was a "first class city", which was directly subordinate to Bangkok. During the thesaphiban -Reform at the beginning of the 20th century, however, the province of Ubon Ratchathani has been assigned.

There are six municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

• Nong Nok Tha (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนอง นก ทา ), consisting of the entire tambon Nong Nok Tha.
• Hua Na (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หัว นา ), consisting of the entire Tambon Hua Na.
• Khemarat (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เขมราฐ ), consisting of parts of the Tambon Khemarat.
• Thep Wongsa (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เทพ วงศา ), consisting of the remaining parts of the Tambon Khemarat.
• Kham Pom (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ขาม ป้อม ), consisting of the entire Tambon Kham Pom.
• Nong Phue (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนอง ผื อ ), consisting of the entire Tambon Nong Phue.
