Amphoe Muang Sam Sip ( Thai : อำเภอ ม่วงสามสิบ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the northwest of the Ubon Ratchathani Province . The province of Ubon Ratchathani is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

geography

Neighboring counties (clockwise from the east): the Amphoe Lao Suea Kok , Mueang Ubon Ratchathani and Khueang Nai in the province of Ubon Ratchathani, and the Amphoe Hua Taphan , Lue Amnat and Phana in the province of Amnat Charoen .

Important rivers in the district are the Lam Se Bok ( ลำ เซ บก ) and the Lam Se Bai ( ลำ เซ บาย ).

history

In 1909 the government merged the two counties of Kasem Sima and Utarupala Nikhom and named the new county Utara Ubon. Four years later the name was changed back to Kasem Sima. The administration building was moved to Ban Muang Sam Sip in 1917, and the name of the district was adapted to the new location. Later in 1924 the government built a new administrative building there. The current administration building was built in 1993 in the same area.
