Amphoe Sawang Wirawong ( Thai : อำเภอ สว่าง วีร วงศ์ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the province of Ubon Ratchathani . The province of Ubon Ratchathani is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

Neighboring counties (clockwise from the north): Amphoe Don Mot Daeng , Tan Sum , Phibun Mangsahan , Na Yia , Warin Chamrap and Mueang Ubon Ratchathani .

history

On April 1, 1995, Sawang Wirawong was initially set up as a "branch circle" ( King Amphoe ) by separating it from the Warin Chamrap district .

On May 15, 2007 the Thai government decided to raise all 81 King Amphoe to simple amphoe status in order to unify the administration. With the publication in the Royal Gazette "Issue 124 chapter 46" on August 24, 2007 this decision officially entered into force.

Local administration

There are three municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Tha Chang (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ท่าช้าง ) consists of the whole Tambon Tha Chang.
  • Bung Malaeng (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บุ่ง มะ แลง ) consists of the whole Tambon Bung Malaeng.
  • Sawang (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สว่าง ) consists of the whole tambon sawang.

There is also a " Tambon Administrative Organization " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organization, TAO):
