Yucca declinata is a species of palm lily ( Yucca ) in the asparagus family (Asparagaceae).
description
The solitary Yucca declinata is stem-forming and reaches a height of 2 to 6 meters. The stiff, upright leaves form fibers on the leaf margins on adult specimens.
The branched inflorescence that begins between the leaves and is typically sloping to one side is 0.6 to 1.3 meters long.
Yucca declinata is related to Yucca grandiflora . He is a representative of the Yucca section , Treculianae series . The occurrence is limited. Yucca declinata , like Yucca grandiflora, is hardly known and rarely in cultivation.
distribution
Yucca declinata grows in the Sonoran Desert of the Sierra Madre Occidental in Mexico on stony slopes in light woodland at altitudes between 700 and 1000 meters. It is associated there with various species of the genera Agave , Nolina and Opuntia .
Systematics
The first description by the American botanist Joseph E. Laferriere under the name Yucca declinata was published in 1995.
