Yuen Siu Tien

Yuen Siu Tien ( Chinese  袁小田 , Pinyin Yuán Xiǎotián , Jyutping Jyun 4 Siu 2 tin 4 , born November 27, 1912 in Beijing , China , † January 8, 1979 in Hong Kong ), also known as Simon Yuen , was a kung fu -Film star in the 1970s. He starred in films with actors such as Jackie Chan and took over the role under the direction of his son Yuen Woo-Pingoccasionally starring. He died of a heart attack in 1979.

Life

Born in Beijing in 1912, Yuen Siu Tien was a performer in the traditional Peking Opera . At the invitation of the then famous canton opera star Xue Juexian ( 薛 覺 先  /  薛 觉 先 , Xuē Juéxiān , Jyutping Sit 3 Gok 3 sin 1 ) he came to Hong Kong in 1937 to play the role of Wu-Sheng ( 武生 , wǔshēng ) to play. He started making movies in 1960 and from the age of 48 he played many mentors and kung fu masters. His most popular film was They Called Him Bone Breaker , in which he played an old recluse who has mastered the art of drunken boxing . This film was one of Jackie Chan's first big hits. The film was an international success and had an extremely positive effect on the actor's career.

Yuen starred in more than 35 films. He impersonated the role of the hermit in three other films, Dance Of The Drunk Mantis , Drunken Master and World Of The Drunken Master . He was supposed to play this role again in Magnificent Butcher with Sammo Hung , but he passed away during the filming. His scenes had to be re-shot by another actor, Fan Mei Sheng .
