Yukari Sahaku ( Japanese 佐伯 由香 里 , Sahaku Yukari ; born November 5, 1988 in Chiba Prefecture ) is a Japanese long-distance runner .

Life

On her debut over the marathon distance, she won the Hokkaidō marathon in 2008 in 2:31:50 h. The following year she came second in the Tokyo Marathon in 2:28:55 h and qualified as national runner-up over 10,000 m for the World Athletics Championships in Berlin . Her appearance there was disappointing in terms of sport, because she crossed the finish line 20th and last, but the 1.42 m tall and 30 kg athlete won the hearts of the audience when she was smooched and lifted by the mascot Berlino .

Yukari Sahaku starts for the team of the slot machine manufacturer Aruze and is trained by Yoshio Koide, who already looked after Naoko Takahashi .
