Yun Kouga ( Japanese 高 河 ゆ ん , Kōga Yun ; born July 9, 1965 in Shinagawa , Tokyo Prefecture , Japan ) is a Japanese manga artist , figure designer and illustrator.

biography

In the 1980s, Kouga became known as an amateur illustrator through various dōjinshi , until she finally switched to a commercial publisher , similar to the group of illustrators CLAMP . She published her first manga as a professional illustrator, the short story Metal Heart , in November 1986 in the manga magazine Comic Val . From 1987 to 1994 she published her manga series Earthian in Wings magazine , which comprises around 900 pages in five anthologies. Earthian was implemented as a four-part original video animation between 1989 and 1996 .

In various publishers such Shinshōkan , Kobunsha , Kodansha , Akita Shoten and Kadokawa Shoten published in the following years, several manga series and art books of Kouga, including consisting of over 1,400 pages Manga Genji . From 1993 to 2000 she drew on Gestalt , which first appeared in G-Fantasy magazine and then in eight edited volumes by Enix- Verlag. While all of her mangas that have appeared up to that point are aimed primarily at a female audience, she published Yōseijiken from July 1993 to September 1999 in the Seinen magazine Afternoon .

Since May 2002 the author has been working on the Shōnen-Ai-Manga Loveless . This appears in the manga magazine Zero-Sum , for which Kazuya Minekura also draws. The Issaisha publishing house has published the extremely successful manga, which already contains over 1,500 pages and was also filmed into an anime television series, in ten anthologies so far. Loveless takes place in a world where every child is born with cat ears. They lose their ears only after their first sexual experience. The protagonist here is the twelve-year-old Ritsuka Aoyagi, whose older brother Seimei was murdered under mysterious circumstances. A former friend of his finally lets Ritsuka in on the secret that he and Soubi must fight the murderers of Seimei.

Her works are translated into English, German and French, among others. Despite her success as a professional illustrator, Kouga repeatedly drew dōjinshi. She heads the dōjinshi project Voleur de Rose , the first publication of which was sold at the Comic Market in December 2005 .

In 2007, she was responsible for the character design of the Sunrise - Anime Kido Senshi Gundam 00 responsible.
