Akuma no Riddle ( Japanese 悪 魔 の リ ド ル Akuma no Ridoru , literally "Devil's Riddle") is a manga series by Yun Kouga (text) and Sunao Minakata (drawings). It can be classified into the genres of action, thriller , Yuri and his own and was adapted as an anime television series.

At the private Myōjō girls' high school, a “black class” is formed by 13 students. Of these, 12 would-be assassins and the thirteenth, Haru Ichinose ( 一 ノ 瀬 晴 ), are their target. She is said to be killed by the end of the school year. Anyone who fails by the assassins or who exposes this plan to outsiders will be expelled from school. But Haru Ichinose soon turns out to be not as easy a victim as it initially seems. And Tokaku Azuma ( 東 兎 角 ), one of the 12 budding assassins, develops feelings for Haru and takes her side. From then on they both fight together against the rest of the class.

publication

The manga first appeared on August 10, 2012 (issue 9/2012) in Newtype magazine from Kadokawa Shoten in Japan. The manga ended in November 2016. The chapters were also published in a total of five anthologies, the last of which appeared in December 2016.

A German translation was published by Egmont Manga from May 2015 to September 2017 and in five volumes. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the series for North America.

Anime adaptation

An anime adaptation of the series was created at Studio Diomedéa in 2014 under the direction of Keizō Kusakawa . Kiyoko Yoshimura was responsible for the series concept and wrote the scripts together with Ayuna Fujisaki and Masahiro Yokotani . The character design was created by Naomi Ide and the artistic direction was Masatoshi Mutō .

The 12 episodes were shown from April 4 to June 20, 2014 after midnight (and thus on the previous television day ) on MBS , as well as on TBS , CBC , AT-X and BS-TBS in Japan with an offset of two days . The episodes were released on six DVDs / Blu-rays from July to December 2014, with a 13th episode added as an original video animation to the last . A subtitled version entitled Riddle Story of Devil was made available via streaming on the AnimeLab and Crunchyroll platforms , and Animax Asia showed it on television. A German dubbed version was released by Kazé Deutschland on DVD and Bluray and distributed via the Anime on Demand streaming platform .
