Yungdrung Ling is a monastery of the Bon religion. It is located in the Namling District of the city of Xigazê in the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China , below the Menri Monastery , near the confluence of the Gungchu tributary into the Yarlung Zangbo ( Brahmaputra ) and is thus roughly halfway between the city of Lhasa and the district of Samzhubzê , near Dazhuka (stag gru kha) .
history
The monastery was founded in 1836 by Nangtön Dawa Gyeltshen ( nang ston zla ba rgyal mtshan ; * 1796 -?) And should follow the disputation tradition of the lost Bön monastery Ensakha (dben sa kha dgon pa) , which was part of the founding of the monastery of Menri had not actually been resumed, renew. This goal was successful and was supported in the 20th century by nine other monasteries in Kham and Amdo , which dedicated themselves to the maintenance of the disputation.
The disputations in Yungdrung Ling related exclusively to items from the sutras . Studies of Tantra and Dzogchen could be carried out privately in one-to-one tuition or were mediated through further studies in Drepung or Sera , the monastery universities of the Buddhist Gelug school.
Yungdrung Ling had four faculties - Yungdrungling (g.yung drung gling) , Kunseling (kun gsal gling) , Kunkhyabling (kun khyab gling) and Kundragling (kun grags gling) - with eight departments.
In the course of history 300 to 500 monks lived in the monastery. Yungdrung Ling was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution . Today around 60 monks practice here again.

The main hall of the monastery has two floors, it has an area of over 800 square meters and is supported by 64 columns. The central assembly room is on the ground floor. In the sanctuary of Dukhang the relics - Stupa of the monastery's founder, Dawa Gyeltshen which extends through both floors, worth seeing.
