Yūzō Koshiro ( Japanese 古代 祐 三 , Koshiro Yūzō ; born December 12, 1967 in Hino ) is a Japanese composer for video game music. His compositions include music for parts 1 and 2 of the role-playing game series Ys (1987), for The Revenge of Shinobi (1989) and the soundtrack for Shenmue (1999). He was one of the first to sell the soundtracks of their video game compositions, and the music from a video game was recorded with an orchestra for the first time with an orchestral version of ActRaiser that was independent of the game .

In August 2004, a medley for ActRaiser arranged by Koshiro could be heard at the second symphonic game music concert at the opening of the Games Convention in Leipzig . Another piece from ActRaiser was performed at the first chamber music game concert in Leipzig in 2005 . At the fourth game music concert in Leipzig in 2006, music from Revenge of Shinobi was part of the program, for the fifth game music concert he arranged a medley from New Super Mario Bros. Yuzo Koshiro was in Leipzig in 2004 and 2007 and gave his fans autographs. He has also written music for the Merregnon project. As part of the Play! A Video Game Symphony series, a Koshiro-arranged piece about Sonic will be performed at various events around the world.
