Yves Deroff (born August 29, 1978 in Maisons-Laffitte ) is a former French football player .

Career

Youth (until 1998)

The right-back Deroff began playing football as a child and from 1987 played in the juniors of FC Franconville . Then his path took him to FC Saint-Leu-la-Forêt in 1991 , from where he made the move to the youth team at the professional club FC Nantes in 1994 . He belonged to one of the most powerful youth departments in France, which was shown in 1996 when he won the Coupe Gambardella . He was considered a great talent, was therefore considered for the junior national team and took part in the U-18 European Championship in 1997 , where the French were able to defend the title. After playing for the second team for several years, he moved up to the professional squad of FC Nantes in 1998.

First title with Nantes (1998-2002)

Shortly before his 20th birthday, he was substituted on August 8, 1998 against Olympique Marseille in the 82nd minute and thus made his debut in the top French division. In the following time he was called up regularly and in the second half of the season even belonged to the first team. This was also the case when Nantes on May 15, 1999 compared to CS Sedan for Cup final this year took. Thanks to a 1-0 win, Deroff won his first trophy in the senior division. From the next season he only came to sporadic missions. His team was one of the strongest in France and in 2001 he was able to add winning the national championship to his list of successes. In 2002 it turned out that he no longer had any real perspective with the champions of the previous year and so Deroff switched to league rivals Racing Strasbourg .

Stammkraft at Strasbourg (2002–2007)

With the Alsatians he was able to establish himself immediately as a regular player, but was now part of a team that had to focus their efforts on the fight against relegation. The positive highlight of his time at Racing was winning the league cup in 2005 and the associated qualification for the UEFA Cup. Deroff, who had already played internationally with Nantes, survived the group stage with his teammates as first and then fought against the Bulgarian club Litex Lovetsch through, but FC Basel put an end to their appearance on the European stage in the round of 16. In contrast, things went much worse in the league, which is why Strasbourg was relegated at the end of the 2005/06 season as penultimate with a clear gap to the saving bank.

With the relegation in 2006, Deroff's time in the top division finally ended after 158 games with two goals. He followed his employer into the second division and was able to contribute to the fact that the Alsatians with only 33 goals conceded in 2007 achieved direct promotion. However, there was no personal return to the first division, as he moved to the second division club EA Guingamp that year .

Second division with Guingamp and Angers (2007–2012)

With the Bretons from Guingamp, he initially remained inconspicuous in the league, whereas the team was able to cause a sensation in the cup and made it to the 2009 cup final . In the final against regional rivals Stade Rennes , Deroff was on the field from the start and experienced a 2-1 victory after a 0-1 deficit, which meant he was able to hold this trophy in his hands for the second time. Shortly afterwards, he experienced a personal setback when he sustained a fibula injury in September 2009 . He was able to recover from that and become a regular player again, but in 2010 he had to witness the relegation of the previous year's cup winner to the third division.

After relegation, he turned his back on Guingamp and signed with the second-rate SCO Angers . At Angers he was initially still on a regular basis, but then less and less, before he was on the field for the last time in the second division on March 13, 2012 after a 2-0 defeat against SC Amiens . In the summer of the same year, his time in the second division ended after 162 games without his own goal scoring and his professional career was over.

Closing out in Blois (2012-2014)

Although Deroff was looking for a new professional employer in the year of his 34th birthday, he was ultimately satisfied with an offer from the sixth division Blois Football 41 . There he was team captain and at the beginning of 2014 even had an offer for the coaching position to be awarded, but decided against it and withdrew from football in the summer of the same year.
