Yves Spink is the fourth music album by the Swiss rapper Bligg . It was released on May 11, 2007 on the Muve label .

background

In April 2006, Bligg's third solo album Mit Liib & Seel appeared on music distribution , or Muve for short . On this the musician not only performed his lyrics as rap, but also used singing for the first time in places. After the publication of Mit Liib & Seel , Bligg set up his own studio for his recordings and completed a tour in order to then start working on Yves Spink .

From Bligg's point of view, Yves Spink is not a “classic hip-hop album”, so the artwork should be adapted to the style of the 1950s, the time of Frank Sinatra . When searching for an album title, a corresponding “counterpart” to Sinatra from today was sought, so that the Zurich club owner Yves Spink was chosen as the name giver for the album.

The main producers of the album are Bligg and Cutmando, who also accompanies the rapper on tours as a DJ. Bligg contributed the beats to Börn Baby and Favorit Song and, in collaboration with Sam B, to Grüezi Frau Müller and together with Cutmando to D'Wält ghört dir and Susanne Wille RMX . Cutmando also produced the tracks S'bescht isch nöd guet gnueg and, together with Sam B, Mini Story . Susanne was produced by Strike Beatz, Ghetto by Sancho and number 1 by Dimos. The German hip-hop musician Shuko was involved in the creation of the album through the production of the piece Volksmusigg . Zwicker also contributed the beat to Lösch s'Liecht and serGIO fertitta to the bonus title Maria Magdalena .

The creation of the cover took place under the direction of the art director Alon Renner, who is also responsible for Bligg's management. Mara Truog photographed the rapper for the booklet. The graphic design was created by Michi Lüthi from gemdesign.

Concerts

The “Yves Spink Tour” started on October 26, 2007 in Zurich . The 15-city tour ended on April 5, 2008 with a concert in Jona . Before that, Bligg had already performed at the Openair Zurich festival in June 2007 . In addition to his concert on June 8th, the rapper also moderated the three-day event.

Charts

Yves Spink rose to position 9 in the Swiss album charts, with which Bligg was able to achieve a position in the top 10 for the first time. The album fell to number 15 in the following weeks; 26; 37 and 48. In mid-August, Yves Spink was at position 99 for the last time in the Swiss charts, until the sound carrier reached position 66 again on January 27, 2008. Six more weeks followed in the Swiss charts. In total, Bligg's fourth album occupied positions in the list of the 100 best-selling albums of the week for 19 weeks.

The single Volksmusigg entered on December 16, 2007 at number 14. On January 27, 2008 the publication reached its highest ranking with position 7. Volksmusigg was represented in the Swiss single charts for a total of 24 weeks.

criticism

The Music.ch website gave Yves Spink four out of a possible six points. According to the editors, Bligg is following "the path" that he began with his album Mit Liib & Seel . It is positively emphasized that the musician has improved his skills as a singer. In addition, Bligg's ability to convey emotions in his songs is praised.
