Their first songs together Wänn mier für eu sind und Kein Kampf um de Titel (the latter together with Gleiszwei ) could be heard on the sampler Chocolate, Cheese & Sounds . Collaborations with musicians like EKR followed before Bligg'n'Lexx released their first maxi-single Schnitzeljagd / Brandheiss via the music label Dialog Records in 1999. Nahdisnah was published in February 2000 via Dialog Records and Coffee , a sub-label of Migros Culture Percentage . Emergence

The pieces of music on Nahdisnah were recorded in the Gleischambers music studio in Zurich, which belongs to the Gleiszwei group. The songs were mixed by Dan Suter in Zurich's Echochamber, partly in collaboration with Lexx. The so-called mastering took place in the Soundville studio under the direction of René Zingg and in the Echochamber under the direction of Dan Suter. The vinyl records and compact discs were then produced in a pressing plant in the Czech Republic .

Texts

Intro

The intro of the album presents a broadcast of the fictional radio station Radio Sheanz ma Saiz (named after a Zurich hip-hop farce), with Bligg and Lexx moderating under the names Lügner and MARC . The station organizes a night owl competition in which the participant has to spontaneously say something about the terms Bligg'n'Lexx , dialect and Nahdisnah . In addition, calls are accepted from listeners who criticize the station's programming and would much rather hear Bligg'n'Lexx. This leads to the first song Whuup .

Whuup

This is a party song in which the rappers describe the course of a celebration in a Zurich nightclub, the meeting of friends there and the atmosphere.

Wänn

In the title Wänn, the two musicians humorously philosophize about changes in the world and in their private lives that would take place if the word “if” were not there. Both the basic idea of the song and the chorus are based on the saying “if the word were if not, then I'd be a millionaire at the longest” .

Until the last heartbeat

This song thematizes in a self-praising style the topics of hip-hop music and culture, quality, "authenticity", love of music and long-term activity in the rap business. With this the musicians break into the main themes of the album in Until the last heartbeat .

Issächüel

In his first solo song Lexx tells in a philosophical way about the spontaneous encounter with a beautiful woman, the brief flirtation and the subsequent farewell forever.

Run boy Run!

The sixth track on the album tells a fictional story: Bligg'n'Lexx worked on a single song for several months, but when Lexx comes into the studio that evening, the material has disappeared. Bligg, who appears shortly afterwards, meets the thief. However, he can escape in a car, whereupon the two of them chase him in a stolen car. During the rest of the song, the car chase through Zurich is portrayed. Finally Lexx discovers two loaded guns in the car and shoots the thief's car. He hits the tank, causing the car to explode. Bligg and Lexx drive up to the burning wrecked car and are disappointed and upset about the loss of the material, but are satisfied that the chase offers enough material for a new song.

Zwüschäziit (Skit)

This two-minute skit is permanently accompanied by an instrumental. You can also hear the voices of Bligg, Lexx and Tibner97ner, who take a break in the studio and consume marijuana .

Louie, Louie

Bligg's first solo track on the album. The rapper tells the story of a young man named Louie who receives a notification from his doctor that he is HIV positive. Since he apparently has nothing more to lose, Louie, who lives in modest circumstances, buys a weapon on the black market and raids a branch of the Zürcher Kantonalbank . The coup fails, however, and Louie is shot while fleeing by the police. On the same evening, the doctor finds that the HIV was a misdiagnosis.

You I

The single, recorded with singer and musician Pete Penicka, is the longest track on the album. Bligg and Lexx each address a female person in their passages, for whom they express unwavering affection and love in the form of various puns and comparisons. The chorus of the song is in English and is sung by Pete Penicka. The last minute and a half of the song are purely instrumental.

Musigbueb

Bligg, Lexx and guest rapper P.Moos describe their own hip-hop in this piece and present themselves as "music boys" who will always do rap for the joy of doing the thing.

For life

The second solo track by Bligg on Nahdisnah and the second guest contribution by the singer Pete Penicka. In the song, the rapper tells how he met a woman and how he felt more and more drawn to her, until he finally saw her as "a woman for life". However, said person was taken. Bligg philosophizes about whether her until now purely friendly relationship with him could ever turn into something serious.

Analize

A short solo title by Lexx that incorporates philosophical elements.

Click isch zrugg

In this piece of music, Bligg and Lexx primarily describe and treat themselves and their music, but also their circle of friends and the Sheanz ma Saiz clique.

Emcee thing

A Lexx solo title. The rapper deals with the topics of hip-hop music and its degree of reality. In addition, elements of battle rap appear.

Da there

The penultimate title is a thank you. Storrer and Bliggensdorfer thank friends, family members and musicians for their support and friendship.

Nahdisnah

The title track serves as the end of the album and also contains philosophical elements. In addition, the MC's describe their own music and express self-confidence and the will to continue their careers. We also thank various friends and colleagues.

Guest Posts

The only guest musicians on Nahdisnah are singer Pete Penicka, DJ Cutmando and rappers P.Moos and Nox from the groups Gleiszwei and Brännpunkt. Cutmando provided the cuts and scratches for the title Emcee Ding . In an interview, Bligg explained that the two didn't think it was necessary to “feature” bigger musicians just to make the album more popular, even if it was first played with thought. However, all the features come from "members of the family".

production

The main producers of the Bligg'n'Lexx album are Lexx and Tibner97ner , rapper and producer of the Gleiszwei group. The latter uses the second artist name TZA on Nahdinsah . Alex Storrer created the background music for the titles Whuup , Wänn , Bis zum letschtä Herzschlag , Zwüschäziit , Du & Ich , Klicke isch zrugg , Emcee Ding and Dä da . TZA produced the beats for the pieces Issächüel , Zum Teil , Louie, Louie , Musigbueb and Analisier . Pete Penicka also produced the songs Für's Länke and Du & Ich , the latter together with Lexx. The producer Dimos showed up for run boy, run! responsible and Bligg produced Nahdisnah . The instrument Fender Rhodes in the title Du & Ich was recorded by Pete Penicka.

illustration

The cover of the album shows a swampy forest area in which a microphone with a holder can be seen. Above it you can read the album title and the name of the group. On the back cover, Bligg and Lexx are shown in a similar biotope. The album contains an eight-page fold-out booklet with the credits, acknowledgments, and photographs showing Bligg and Lexx in reed-covered areas. The photos were shot by Claudia Holcbecher, who also carried out the digital image processing. The design comes from Robi Insinna.

Criticism and success

Since the album was the first professional release for both Bligg and Lexx, it could not reach any classification in the Swiss charts. Nahdisnah increased the level of awareness of both musicians and received positive reviews from home and abroad. The German hip-hop magazine Backspin wrote about the single Schnitzeljagd : “Bligg [...] and Lexx [...] know how to sell good qualities. As MCs, they provide a perfect match and show that they are based on the flow in the blood. " Also the Juice magazine gave positive reviews of the Zurich rappers and their debut album: " Nahdisnah's kind of a 'adult' drive [...] It can be found hardly any battle anthems and only a few well-placed party tracks. The rest is made up of songs about love and life, skilful storytelling [...] and reflective discussions about this 'Emcee thing'. "
