Yves Vanderhaeghe (born January 30, 1970 in Roeselare ) is a former Belgian football player and current coach .
Life
Vanderhaeghe played in his youth at KFC Roeselare and moved to Cercle Bruges at the age of 16 , where he was mainly used in the youth team, but also played a game in the Pro League . In 1988 he returned to KFC Roeselare, where he played regularly in the third division. In 1992 he moved to the second division for Excelsior Mouscron .
In 1994 Vanderhaeghe moved to Eendracht Aalst , who had just been promoted to the first division. Here he was a regular player straight away. In January 1998 he returned to Excelsior Mouscron, who now also played in the first division. In 2000 he was with the club in the final of the Belgian League Cup, which was lost on penalties against RSC Anderlecht .
In spring 2001 Vanderhaeghe left Excelsior and joined the RSC Anderlecht. With the club he was three times Belgian champion. In the fall of 2006, the club announced that he was no longer planning with him and that he could look for a new club. He then received offers from his old clubs and Vanderhaeghe returned to his youth club KSV Roeselare. He ended his career there in June 2008.
After his career as an active player, he was hired as assistant coach of KV Kortrijk from 2008 and rose to his head coach in July 2014.
From October 2017 to October 2018 he was the trainer of the KAA Gent . On November 15, 2018, he returned to KV Kortrijk as head coach.
Between 1999 and 2005 Vanderhaeghe was a Belgian international . He scored two goals in 48 international matches. He was on the squad for the 2002 World Cup .
