Yvonne Desportes (born July 18, 1907 in Coburg , † December 19, 1993 in Paris ) was a French composer .

Live and act

The daughter of the composer and conductor Emile Desportes (1877–1944) and the painter Bertha Froriep (1881–1950) was born during her parents' trip to Coburg. She received her first piano lessons from her father. Then at the École Normale de Musique de Paris with Yvonne Lefébure , Alfred Cortot and Paul Dukas . From 1925 to 1932 she studied at the Paris Conservatory with Noël Gallon and Jean Gallon , Maurice Emmanuel and Marcel Dupré .

In 1932 she won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome with the Kantete Le Pardon . During the stay in Rome associated with the award, she married the sculptor Ulysse Gemignani (1906–1973), who was also the winner of the Rome Prize, in 1933 . From 1943 to 1978 she was a professor at the Paris Conservatory, until 1959 for solfège , then for counterpoint and fugue .

Desportes' more than 500 works include operas, electroacoustic and symphonic music (including two symphonies, 1958 and 1964), instrumental concerts (including two percussion concerts, 1957 and 1960, and a trumpet concert), chamber music and vocal music, as well as many music didactic works. She was awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur .
