Yvonne Merin (actually Annelies Ruth Johanna Martha Wilhelmine Dorothee von Brandenstein ; born September 19, 1921 in Ober-Röhrsdorf (from 1922 officially in the province of Grenzmark Posen-West Prussia ); † June 15, 2012 in Potsdam ) was a German actress .

Life and career

Yvonne Merin was born as the eldest of four daughters of the landowner Lothar von Brandenstein (1893–1953) and the writer Ruth von Ostau (1899–1966). Her youngest sister was the writer Leonie Ossowski (1925–2019).

After training at DEFA's young talent studio , Merin was discovered in 1949 by director Gerhard Lamprecht , who cast five of them in his post-war film Quartet . She later got roles in her husband Kurt Maetzig's films . In 1952 she took on the lead role in the novel of a young marriage under Maetzig's direction. After the failure of the film, which was torn as a propaganda film, Merin largely withdrew from the film industry.

Between 1954 and 1956 she worked at the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam . She appeared for Günter Reisch in 1959 in Maibowle and again in 1962 in Oh, you happy… . From 1959 to 1960 she trained as a gardener with Karl Foerster in Bornim .

After that, she turned her back on acting for good. From the late 1960s she worked as a dramaturge and author in the DEFA documentary film studio. There she worked between 1977 and 1983, among other things, on the creation of 18 parts of the series You and Your Health .

Since 1960 she was married to the director Armin Georgi and was henceforth called Yvonne Georgi-Merin.
