José Elias Moedim Júnior (born September 25, 1976 in São Paulo ) is a former Brazilian soccer player in midfield .
In 2009 he ended his career with the Austrian Bundesliga club SCR Altach . He is the older brother of Rubinho , one of the current keeper of Genoa .
Career
In the club
Zé Elias is one of the youngest players to ever play for the Brazilian club Corinthians São Paulo . Already during the 1993/94 season he attracted the interest of PSV Eindhoven , but at that time the contract was not signed. He only moved to Europe in 1996 , where he played for Bayer 04 Leverkusen for one season . This was followed by renowned clubs such as Inter Milan , FC Bologna , Olympiacos Piraeus , before moving to his native Brazil to FC Santos in 2006 . In May 2008 he announced his retirement as an active player and wanted to work as a scout for Inter Milan in Brazil. However, he signed a new contract in June 2008 and played for the Austrian Bundesliga club SCR Altach for another season before ending his career again. Before that he worked for Metalurh Donetsk and Omonia Nicosia in Ukraine and Cyprus . In addition to Brazilian citizenship, he also has Italian citizenship.
