history
The single-storey, simple, plastered house with a hipped roof and a side gable was built around 1820 in the era of classicism for the toll collectors.
The Warturm as a fortification tower on the Ochtum stood from 1309 to 1813. Here was the border between Bremen and the county of Oldenburg from 1344 to 1803 with a customs house from 1577, (today Gasthaus Storchennest), where road tolls were raised. That is why the house for the customs officers was built nearby. When the Kingdom of Hanover joined the German Customs Union in 1854 , the city area of Bremen was customs abroad until 1888; According to a treaty between the two countries, this was the customs border only until 1857.
Today (2018) the house is used by an association.
