dashboard

The vehicle is powered by a mid- electric motor with an output of 3.5 kW (4.8 hp) and comes from Marelli . With a manual gearbox, three forward and one reverse gear can be selected. The engine output is controlled with a two-stage accelerator pedal . When the pedal is fully depressed, the voltage is 24, 36 or 48 volts, depending on the speed level . The maximum speed is 40 km / h.

Eight 12-volt batteries, which together weigh 160 kg, are located in a drawer that can be pulled out to the side under the vehicle floor. They can be charged within six hours at 25 amps .

Model history

At Zagato in Terrazzano di Rho ( metropolitan city of Milan ) the models Zele 1000 and Zele 2000 were manufactured, which only differ in range . With the 1000 this is a maximum of 70 km, with the 2000 up to 100 km.

From around 1975 both models were also assembled in Elkhart (Indiana) by the Elcar Corporation and offered from there in the USA . There they were given the sales designation Elcar 1000 and Elcar 2000 .

A total of around 500 copies are said to have been built.
