Zaid ibn Shaker ( Arabic زيد بن شاكر, DMG Zaid b. Šākir ; * September 4, 1934 in Amman ; † August 30, 2002 in Amman) was a Jordanian field marshal , commander of the Jordanian armed forces in the Six Day War and several times Prime Minister of Jordan .

The cousin of King Hussein I began studying at Victoria College in Alexandria in 1951 . In 1955 he continued his training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst . 1964 followed a study at the General Staff College in Leavenworth in the USA. Zaid ibn Shaker was fluent in Arabic, English, French and Spanish. In 1957/58 he was assistant to the military attaché at the Jordanian embassy in London. In 1963 Schaker was promoted to commander of the 1st Infantry Regiment. From 1964 he commanded a tank brigade as a lieutenant colonel . In the Six Day War of 1967 he led his country's armed forces. On March 5, 1973 he became chief of staff and adviser to the king. In June 1987 he was appointed Marshal. He was Prime Minister of Jordan from April 27, 1989 to December 4, 1989, from November 21, 1991 to May 29, 1993 and from January 7, 1995 to February 4, 1996.
