history
The story of Zaios began around 1700 with the Ouled Settout tribe. However, they moved from Zaio around 1825 and moved to Sabra, Moulay, Sidi Atman and Bouarg , as the influx of new immigrants was increasing. These were predominantly farmers, traders and importers. At the end of 1800, Zaio developed into a meeting place for traders from Berkane, Oujda , Nador and all of eastern Morocco. Zaio has been known for its orange harvest and olive cultivation since around 1960 .
