etymology
The name Western Morava, as opposed to the Southern Morava , was not used until the 20th century. Especially in the geographical literature of the 19th century, the term Serbian Morawa ( Serbian Српска Морава Srbska Morava ) is often used to distinguish it from the Bulgarian Morawa , as the region was included in the settlement area of the Serbs at that time .
course
The Western Morava is formed by the confluence of the rivers Moravica (see also Moravica district ) and Đetinja near Požega in the Zlatibor district . From there it flows in an easterly direction to Čačak , takes on the Ibar at Kraljevo , flows past Vrnjačka Banja , Trstenik and Kruševac , and finally joins a little south of Varvarin with the Southern Morava (Serbian Južna Morava ) to form the Great Morava ( Velika Morava ).
