Zbigniew Szczepkowski

Zbigniew Szczepkowski (born May 4, 1952 in Nowogard ; † February 4, 2019 in Warsaw ) was a Polish cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

At the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal he started in the team pursuit and was fifth with Jan Jankiewicz , Czesław Lang and Krzysztof Sujka . When Bernardo Colex won the Tour of Mexico in 1979 , he finished third. In 1981 he was third in the British Milk Race and won the points classification ; in 1979 he won the mountain classification in the race . Szczepkowski won the day sections of the Tour of Poland , the Milk Race, the Tour of Morocco , the Tour of Lower Saxony , the Tour of Mexico and other stage races .

In 1980 he was Polish champion in the team time trial as well as in the criterion and third in individual races . In 1982 he won the Tour of Turkey in front of his compatriot Lechosław Michalak . He took part in the International Peace Tour in 1980 and came in 21st.
