The Gößweinstein office was an administrative area of the Bamberg bishopric , a direct imperial territory in the Holy Roman Empire . The Bamberg Monastery, which was assigned to the Franconian Empire , was a clerical principality that existed until 1802.

geography

The office located in the south-east of the Bamberg dominion area was one of the medium-sized high estates offices in terms of its spatial extension and was located in the middle of the Bamberg core area. His neighboring territories in Bamberg were the offices of Ebermannstadt , Pottenstein , Waischenfeld and Wolfsberg .

history

At the latest in 1102 Gößweinstein came into the possession of the Bamberg Monastery, which established one of its official seats there. The place was pledged in 1243 by the Bamberg bishop to the noble family von Schlüsselberg , but later it was again Bamberg and this remained until the annexation of the bishopric in 1802 .

structure

The administration of the office Gößweinstein consisted of a Vogteiamt and a tax office .

Official seat

The seat of the official administration was located on the castle Gößweinstein , which was probably built in the 11th century and was mentioned for the first time under the name Goswinesteyn .

Bailiwick Office

The Bailiwick of Gößweinstein was one of the 54  bailiwick offices of the Bamberg monastery. Its bailiwick district comprised the following village markings and localities:

Allersdorf , Baumfurth ( expired mill on the Wiesent , north of Windischgaillreuth ), Behringersmühle , Bösenbirkig , Etzdorf , Geiselhöhe , Gößweinstein , Hartenreuth , Kosbrunn , Leutzdorf , Moritz , Sachsendorf , Sachsenmühle , Stadelhofen , Stempfermühle and Türkelstein .

Tax office

The Gößweinstein tax office was one of the 46 tax offices of the Bamberg monastery. His spatial sphere of activity included not only the Bailiwick district of the Gößweinstein office, but also that of the Bailiwick Office Wolfsberg .

The economic importance of the office for the bishopric of Bamberg was relatively small, it was therefore led to the end of the 17th century as Amt I class (out of 5). The tax revenue of the tax office averaged 912 during the term of office of Peter Philipp von Dernbach (1672–1683) and 818 Franconian guilders per year during the term of office of Marquard Sebastian Schenk von Stauffenberg (1683–1693) . The economic profitability of the Gößweinstein tax office thus did not even reach half of the average of all Bamberg offices.
