When the bishopric Bamberg was secularized as a result of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss 1802/03 and annexed by the Electorate Palatinate-Baiern in breach of the Imperial Constitution , Bösenbirkig became part of the New Bavarian territories that were forcibly taken over during the Napoleonic land consolidation .
Due to the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , Etzdorf became part of the independent rural community of Leutzdorf with the second municipal edict in 1818 , which still included the village of Hartenreuth and the two hamlets of Sachsenmühle and Türkelstein . In the course of the communal territorial reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s , Etzdorf was incorporated into the Gößweinstein market together with the Leutzdorf community at the beginning of 1974. In 2019 Etzdorf had 130 inhabitants.
