The village of Kohlstein is part of the municipality of Gößweinstein in the Forchheim district ( Bavaria ).

history

At the western exit of the village of Kohlstein, today right next to the extension, over 100 years ago and a few hundred meters away until about 2006, there is a cast-iron cross on a high stone base within a group of trees. According to the inscription on the base, the cross was erected in 1902. According to tradition, the tenant Hohl, a great-grandfather of Werner Brendel, had this wayside cross erected after he survived a grazing shot while hunting.

This cross was probably so damaged in 2001 by a tree from this group of trees that was knocked over by a gust of wind that it broke in two. After the restoration of the cross and the revision and restoration of the Christian saying, it was consecrated anew by Father Xaver OFM from the Gößweinstein monastery.
