Geiselhöhe is a small district of the pilgrimage site Gößweinstein and lies between Gößweinstein and Pottenstein . The settlement has 14 residents and four houses.
history
With the name "Geisseldorf", the settlement moved away from Sachsendorf in the 16th century . At that time the place was still called Geisseldorf, later Geiselhöhe. The name can come from Geisel ( whip ) because of the dialectal form "Goiselhön" , but the personal name Giselher is also historically documented in 1149 and could have been namesake.
