Vice Cathedral Office Wolfsberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Vizedomamt Wolfsberg was an office of the Hochstift Bamberg , an imperial territory in the Holy Roman Empire . The area comprised a closed area of Upper Carinthia .

history

At the beginning of the 11th century, probably as early as 1007, an area around Villach in Carinthia came to the Bamberg diocese. The seat of the vice dome was originally Villach, but it was soon relocated to Wolfsberg Castle near Wolfsberg , which is easier to defend . The Vizedom came from the cathedral chapter and was also its member. As parts of the Vizedomamt Wolfsberg were named several times:

The state sovereignty over the Vizedomamt Wolfsberg was disputed between Habsburg and Bamberg. In 1535 Bamberg had to recognize Austrian sovereignty, but Bamberg remained in possession of the basic gradient , customs revenue and, above all, the mining revenue. This was economically important because of the mercury deposits in Villach and above all because of the lead mines. In the Perpetual Comparison in 1674, the sovereignty was finally transferred to Habsburg and in 1759 the last rights were also sold there.
