Zdeněk Lukáš

Zdeněk Lukáš (born August 21, 1928 in Prague ; † July 13, 2007 there ) was a Czech composer .

Life

Lukáš studied pedagogy and worked as a teacher from the beginning. From 1953 to 1963 he was a producer for the Czechoslovak Radio in Pilsen and a choirmaster . Between 1962 and 1970 he studied with Miloslav Kabeláč . He was heavily influenced by Czech folklore and his work is mainly focused on vocal music. Since the 1960s, he has increasingly included avant-garde techniques in his works. His work includes seven symphonies , as well as operas , oratorios and cantatas and numerous choral works. In addition to his work as a composer, he devoted himself to conducting choirs in various countries.

In 1996 Lukáš founded the artist group Quattro together with Sylvie Bodorová , Luboš Fišer and Otmar Mácha . Each member should represent a different generation of composers.
