Zdenko Miletić (born April 23, 1968 in Sarajevo ) is a former Croatian football goalkeeper and today's goalkeeping coach at FC Augsburg .

Career

The goalkeeper, who was born in Yugoslavia at the time, came to Germany with his parents at the age of 3 and started playing football at SV Wiesbaden. In 1983 he returned to the country of his birth and played in the Dinamo Zagreb youth team . From there, Miletić moved via the NK Zagreb to the NK Maribor . The civil war in Yugoslavia prompted him to return to Germany, where his parents continued to live, and the goalkeeper joined SC Preußen Münster . At the Westphalia he was twice champions in the league, but failed with the team in each case on the promotion round. In 1993 he went on to SC Verl , with whom he qualified for the newly created Regionalliga West / Südwest in 1994 and immediately became runner-up in the following season. In 1995/96 he moved to Arminia Bielefeld , whose team won regional league championships before SC Verl and rose to the second division. At Bielefeld, however, he was only used sporadically and was mostly a substitute goalkeeper. During Miletić's almost seven turbulent years at Arminia, the team was promoted to the Bundesliga twice and relegated twice. In February 2002 he moved to FC Augsburg in the regional league and became the club's regular goalkeeper. In 2006 he was promoted to the second Bundesliga with Augsburg after the team had always been at least fourth in the league in the four preceding years. In May 2007 Miletić extended his contract with Augsburg until 2008, but only acted as a standby professional. Even before this contract expired, he was appointed to the coaching staff in October 2007 and has been the goalkeeping coach of the Bundesliga team ever since. He is also registered as a player in emergencies. Manager Andreas Rettig brought up Miletić in December 2011 as a possible short-term replacement for the Moroccan Mohamed Amsif, who was at the African Cup of Nations .
