Mohamed Amsif ( Arabic محمد أمسيف, DMG Muḥammad Amsīf , Central Atlas Tamazight ⵎⵓⵃⵎⵎⴷ ⴰⵎⵙⵉⴼ Muḥammed Amsif ; * February 7, 1989 in Düsseldorf ) is a German - Moroccan football goalkeeper . He was under contract with 1. FC Union Berlin until July 2016 and then moved to IR Tanger . Amsif has also played for the Moroccan national team since November 2011 .

Career

society

Amsif started his football career at the age of six in his hometown at TuRU Düsseldorf . In 2001 he switched to Düsseldorf SV 04 and at the age of fifteen, the German-Moroccan joined Wuppertaler SV Borussia before Amsif joined the youth team at FC Schalke 04 in 2005 at the age of 16 . In 2007/08 he was the goalkeeper of the Schalke U-19s in the A-Junior Bundesliga . In 22 appearances, he was without conceding eleven goals.

In 2008, after his strong performance, Amsif finally got a professional contract with Schalke (term until 2010). Born in Düsseldorf, he was a substitute goalkeeper behind Manuel Neuer and Mathias Schober at Schalke, but only in the second team of the Knappen. In the 2008/09 season he played twelve games for the second representation in the Regionalliga and mostly alternated with Ralf Fährmann . Amsif went into the 2009/10 season as number one in goal for Schalke II. But after eleven match days he lost his regular place to Lars Unnerstall and was only used twice by the end of the season.

Due to the lack of prospects at Schalke as the fourth goalkeeper behind Neuer, Schober and Unnerstall, Amsif moved to second division FC Augsburg for free after his contract expired for the 2010/11 season , where he signed a two-year contract. He made his professional debut on September 19, 2010 against VfL Osnabrück , when the Augsburg goalkeeper Simon Jentzsch had to be replaced with a concussion. In the following game against MSV Duisburg Amsif was on the field for the first time for 90 minutes.

After Augsburg's first Bundesliga promotion, Amsif remained number two behind Jentzsch. After he broke his ring finger at the end of October 2011, he was replaced in the second round of the DFB Cup at RB Leipzig (1-0) by the German-Moroccan, who played his first game in this competition. A few days later, on November 6, 2011, Amsif also made his debut in the Bundesliga in the 2-1 home defeat against FC Bayern Munich , because Jentzsch had to take another break due to the aftermath of his injury.

For the 2014/15 season Amsif moved to 1. FC Union Berlin . On July 13, 2016, the association announced that the contract, which originally ran until June 30, 2017, would be terminated and that it was going with an unknown goal. After his time at FC Union Berlin, Amsif moved to Ittihad Tangier in his native Morocco.

National team

In November 2006 Amsif played his first game for a German national team. He was used for the U-18 juniors against Turkey. Then he was part of the squad of the U-19 and U-20 juniors, who were trained by Horst Hrubesch . He made his debut for the U-20s in May 2009 in a friendly against Italy (1-0) when he came on for Tom Mickel at halftime . As a result, he alternated with René Vollath and later Oliver Baumann in the gate half-time.

In August 2008, Amsif received an invitation from the Moroccan Association to attend a course for the senior national team for the first time . He played his first international match for Morocco on November 13, 2011, when he was on the starting line-up for the game against Cameroon .

On December 29, 2011 Amsif was nominated for the Africa Cup 2012 in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea , in which he was used once in the game against Niger , which Morocco won 1-0.
