Andreas Rettig (born April 25, 1963 in Leverkusen ) is a football official and former football player . From 2013 to 2015 he was DFL - Managing Director , before he was manager at the Bundesliga side SC Freiburg , 1. FC Köln and FC Augsburg . From September 1, 2015 to September 30, 2019, he was commercial director at the second division club FC St. Pauli .

Career

Rettig was a player at the clubs FV Bad Honnef , SC Viktoria Köln , SC Brück and Wuppertaler SV . Here he played in the Oberliga Nordrhein with Klaus-Dieter Nuyken . As a right-winger, he was in the flank, to Nuykens goal of the month of January 1985 led.

From 1984 to 1987, Rettig completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at Bayer AG . From 1989 to 1998 he worked in various positions at Bayer 04 Leverkusen .

He then was manager of the Bundesliga club SC Freiburg from spring 1998 to March 20, 2002 .

On March 21, 2002, Rettig became manager of 1. FC Cologne . In the 2005/06 season he took responsibility for the bad start and resigned on December 17, 2005.

From July 2006 to July 2012, Rettig was a manager at FC Augsburg , which was promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in 2011 and has since been represented in the upper house of German football. In Rettig's time, the number of members increased tenfold to 10,000, season tickets increased sixfold to 18,000, and the average number of viewers doubled to 30,000. At the end of the 2011/12 season he announced his departure.

From January 1, 2013, Rettig succeeded Holger Hieronymus as DFL managing director. In this function, he proved himself as a moderator , for example in the safety discussion, licensing and the ongoing topic of goal-line technology . At the beginning of 2015, Rettig asked the DFL Supervisory Board to terminate his contract because he saw his future in club football.

Since September 1, 2015, Rettig was commercial director at FC St. Pauli , for which he turned down better-paid offers from the Bundesliga. In November 2016, after separating from Thomas Meggle, he also temporarily took over the post of General Manager Sports before Uwe Stöver was appointed to his position in October 2017 . In April 2019 he also took over the duties of Uwe Stöver after his dismissal until the end of the 2018/19 season . On September 30, 2019, Rettig left the club for personal reasons.
